Our Contract With You
The British Food Store Site (from here on called “this Site”) is operated by The British Food Store (from here on called “The British Food Store”, “we” or “us” and “our” has a related meaning).
We want our legal relationship with you in relation to this Site to be fair and clear. We have therefore set out how the different parts of that relationship will work in three important documents, which are available on this Site. These are:
- Our Terms and Conditions for the Use of the thebritishfoodstore.com Site (this document), which covers the general use and operation of this Site;
- Our Terms and Conditions of Sale, which covers placing orders, receiving deliveries, making payment, returns and other related matters; and
- Our Privacy & Cookies Policy, which covers how we may use information about you and your use of this Site.
You should read each of these documents carefully as together they form the basis of our legal relationship with you and they affect your rights and liabilities under the law.
In addition, sometimes other terms and conditions or policies we have in place may be relevant to our legal relationship with you. These will include, for example, any terms and conditions that apply to promotions or competitions.
If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, please do not register for or use this Site. By registering to use and on each occasion that you then use this Site you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, including any amendment that we may make to them.
We may amend these terms and conditions from time to time. Any amendments will be notified to you using the e-mail address you give us or by a suitable announcement on this Site. Changes to these terms and conditions will apply after we have given such notice. If you do not wish to accept the amended terms and conditions you should not continue to use this Site. If you do continue to use this Site, you will be bound by the amended terms and conditions.

You may not use this website for any commercial purpose. Any person or company taking any material, photos or any content will result in legal proceedings
Products and Pricing
We take every care to ensure that product descriptions are accurate at the time of uploading products to the website. We reserve the right to withdraw any product from the website without any prior notification. We also reserve the right to amend prices of products without prior notification.
Our products are priced in Euro. When paying by credit card this is the amount which will be deducted from your debit or credit card. When purchasing products with sterling or other currencies, debit or credit cards, the exchange rates will be set by the cardholders bank. These rates fluctuate on a daily basis. For further information, cardholder should contact their bank as exchange rates are not applied by The British Food Store. All prices shown on our website are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
We pride in ourselves in delivering the freshest product that can’t be beaten. The British Food Store do not store chilled food, bread, cakes or fresh vegetables. When placing an order of chilled food or bread, we will then send this order to our butcher, farmers, bakers and suppliers, so you the consumer will get the freshest product dispatched and delivered to you.
The British Food Store delivers non chilled food everywhere and anywhere in the world.
The British Food Store only deliver chilled food to anywhere in Europe.
When ordering chilled food to Europe for same week delivery, all orders must before Sunday 5pm. We dispatch chilled food to Europe only on Monday and Tuesday, to the UK is only on Monday and Tuesday and Ireland is only on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. This will guarantee that all orders will be delivered by Friday.
The British Food Store do not deliver chilled foods outside of Europe.
The British Food Store do not deliver on Saturday, Sunday or on public holidays.
The British Food Store are delighted to use DHL as our delivery partner. DHL has over 100 years experience in delivering parcels around the world. The British Food Store do not profit from deliveries, so what DHL charge us we pass on the charge to the purchaser at no extra charge. When placing an order with The British Food Store, we will package, label and dispatch the order to DHL. Once the parcel reaches UPS sorting warehouse and ready for dispatch, DHL will then send an email from the email provided to us to inform the receiver of delivery day and time. If the purchaser do not receive an email please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send the tracking number to you. Any problems with deliveries, The British Food Store will do everything we can fix or sort any issues with deliveries. Unfortunately due to language barriers and time zones we strongly recommend that the receiver contact their local DHL office to assist in any delivery problems, this is a much faster process rather than The British Food Store contacting DHL in Dublin to contact DHL in a different country, that could take days back and forward corresponding and this would not be ideal when chilled food is been delivered.
Any failed deliveries through no fault of our own or through no fault of DHL for example, wrong address given, refused delivery by the recipient or no one available to receive the package, the purchaser is liable for delivery charges. Any failed deliveries when it is our fault or the fault of DHL, The British Food Store will refund any ambient or none chilled products. Any failed deliveries through no fault of our own or DHL, The British Food Store do not refund chilled food for example, fresh meat, dairy, bakery or fruit & vegetables. The British Food Store will except returns on ambient or none chilled products. The British Food Store will not except returns on chilled food for example, fresh meat, dairy, bakery and fruit & vegetables.
Minimum spend is €20.
Customs & Import Tax
When ordering or sending goods to a NON EU COUNTRY and if customs require clearance, it is the receiver responsibility to declare the package or the receiver can appoint a broker agent to declare the package. If any charges occur, the receiver is required to pay these charges. The British Food Store do not accept responsibility for any hold ups or charges that occur during customs clearance. Failure to pay any customs charges and if customs confiscate and destroy the package, The British Food Store will not be held responsible.
To Cancel Your order
If you wish to cancel your order, please contact us. As we try to process orders immediately it may not always be possible to prevent an order from being dispatched. If your order has already been dispatched you may return the items to us in accordance with our Returns Policy.
As soon as we receive notice of your cancellation of an item we will refund the relevant part of the purchase price for that item together with the item’s normal postage charge if applicable.
Cooling off period
If you live in the European Union you have a right to withdraw from the purchase of any item within a “cooling-off” period of seven working days starting on the day after the day the item is delivered to you. This right applies to all items advertised on the Website except for:
- Chilled food items likely to spoil rapidly (e.g. hampers and gift boxes containing such items fresh meat, dairy and fruit & vegetables, in particular refrigerated items)
- sealed items where the seal has been broken.
Discounts, postage rates and promotional discount codes offered by The British Food Store are valid only as part of a purchase made on this website.
We only sell items to adults (i.e. those aged 18 or over). If you are under 18, you may use this website only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Colours, specifications and dimensions of products
We have made every effort to display the colours, specifications and dimensions of items on the Website as accurately as possible. The colours you see will depend on the resolution of your monitor, we cannot guarantee that your monitor’s display of any colour will reflect accurately the colour of the item delivered. We may from time to time vary the dimensions, specifications and quantities of items displayed on our Website without prior notice.
Hampers are collections of food and non-food items packaged in containers such as wicker baskets, card or wooden boxes. As these products contain perishable items and items with a rapid expiry date, your statutory right to withdraw purchases within the seven working day “cooling-off” period does not apply to these items. The hampers photographed contain only items listed. This means any props used in the photography are not included in the hampers unless stated in the hamper listing.
When Selecting An Item
When selecting an item some pictures will from time to time have some props added in the photos, these props are not included with the sale price and the description and details will clearly state what product is for sale.
Any Chilled Food Orders To Mainland Europe Will Have To Use Air Freight Express Delivery Option.
The British Food Store only ship chilled food for example, fresh meat and dairy to Ireland and the rest of Europe. The British Food Strore do not ship chilled food outside of Europe.
Some of the items we sell are chilled items such as cheese, meat and yoghurt. These items will be sent to you in temperature controlled packaging which will ensure the goods will arrive with you at the appropriate temperature.
We have carefully chosen packaging which promises to maintain the temperature of the food item for up to 5 days and even longer during the winter. This allows us to be confident that we can deliver perishable goods to you in perfect condition. Your chilled items will arrive to you in an insulated pouch within your regular delivery box or within an insulated box. With both options, the food will be surrounded by frozen, food-safe gel blocks. We will decide which packaging solution to use when we see your order as it will depend on the selection of items you have ordered.
Delivery of refrigerated food items are available within Europe. Due to the longer shipping period, we regret that we cannot ship to countries further afield at this time. If you are abroad and would like to order refrigerated food items for delivery to a friend or relative in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom and Europe we can facilitate this at all times.
If you have an allergy or are shopping for someone with an allergy, please do your own careful research in relation to allergy-related claims on the product. Please be aware that the information we have provided in relation to the products has been taken directly from the packaging of the product. Claims about any product and the listing of ingredients are based on what the supplier has told us. Please satisfy yourself that the products are suitable for you before using.
